The Trust is founded on the philosophy, tradition and teachings of Sant Ravidas, Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Lord Buddha, and on the equality and anti-discrimination provisions of the Constitution of India. Its work is directed towards minorities, lower-income and disadvantaged groups, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Mahadalits, Dalits, OBCs and every section of society that has been historically deprived of equal opportunity.
The Trust’s objects place strong emphasis on education at every level and in every form — formal and non-formal, technical and vocational, cultural and scientific — together with placement, entrepreneurship and leadership development so that education translates into dignified livelihoods.
The Trust’s objects address health and family welfare comprehensively — from awareness and preventive camps to hospitals, disease control, disability support and recognised alternative systems of medicine.
The Trust supports agriculture and allied occupations, cooperative and SHG-based livelihoods, and access to finance and technology so that farmers, artisans and first-generation entrepreneurs can build sustainable incomes.
The Trust’s objects cover environmental protection in its widest sense — forests and wildlife, pollution of every kind, waste and sewage management, nature conservation, afforestation, non-conventional energy and sanitation of public places.
The Trust works on the building blocks of rural development — housing, finance, infrastructure, marketing, cooperatives and technology — with particular attention to marginal and underprivileged farmers and rural sanitation.
The Trust’s objects extend to urban development, including town and country planning, slum development and rehabilitation, civic amenities, public health engineering and urban environmental management.
The Trust works to strengthen youth affairs and sports, national integration, communal harmony and cooperation, and the moral and social development of youth, along with the promotion of yoga and meditation.
The Trust promotes scientific temper and the application of science, communication and information technology for the benefit of rural communities, artisans, landless labour and weaker sections.
The Trust is committed to human rights, fundamental rights, and the freedom, dignity and peace of every individual, including legal aid, protection of victims of human-rights violations, and research and publication on human-rights issues.
The Trust responds to natural disasters and calamities by providing essential relief material and supporting rehabilitation of affected persons and communities.
The Trust supports cultural development, publications and media, and public events and exhibitions that build awareness, celebrate heritage and mobilise communities for social causes.
The Trust Deed also empowers the Trust to work on a number of additional and emerging areas — from Khadi and Village Industries to consumer protection, road safety, labour welfare and coordination with government and funding agencies — and to respond to emerging national and international issues as they arise.
